In 2130, due to the effects of World War III, huge polluted areas called "BS (Black Spot)" appeared all over Japan. "BS" was isolated as a ruin with huge walls, but soon the barren land was inhabited. They are called "Needless" by those who live in the "City", and there are also people with special abilities among them.
The story begins with a teenager named Kurus Silt, to whom he belongs to a rebel group whose goal is to liberate the "BS" from the violent rule of Simeon. During a battle with Adam Acullet, the Resistance was breached, and the survivor Kurus fled into the underground waterways alone. When he was being chased by his pursuers, he was rescued by Adam Brett, who looked similar to Aculet. Culus and Brett later came to the church and met many companions, which led to the beginning of Culus's life and battles in the church.
The animated version adapted by NEEDLESS has been broadcast on Tokyo Metropolitan TV since July 2009, and is produced in high definition and has a total of 24 episodes. There are significant discrepancies between the story and the manga.
